War, Militarism, Racism, & Poverty
One year into the Trump presidency and the situation for peace could not be more precarious. Nuclear war becomes more and more imminent as the crisis in Korea continues; the US-Saudi assault on Yemen has created one of the world's worst humanitarian crises; and spending on defense grows as programs for social good are threatened. It is more important than ever for citizens to stand up and demand an end to militarism and a turn towards peace.

Keynote Address by Jeffrey Sachs:
Endless War and the War Economy
Professor Jeffrey D. Sachs is the Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, a senior UN advisor and a co-recipient of the 2015 Blue Planet Prize. He is widely considered to be one of the worlds leading experts on economic development, global macroeconomics, and the fight against poverty. Professor Sachs has authored and editedof three New York Times Bestsellers:The End of Poverty(2005),Common Wealth: Economics for a Crowded Planet(2008), andThe Price of Civilization(2011), in addition to numerous other works.

Keynote Address by Savina Martin:
The Poor People's Campaign
Savina Martin is the co-coordinator of the Poor People's Campaign in Massachusetts and was the founding leader of Boston Union of the Homeless. She also played a key role in National Union of the Homeless. Martin works extensively with homelessness organizations, and as a veteran and a woman of color, works particularly with homeless women veterans.
